   if u hav lots of asset, i think its better to invest in gold for its long-term price stability and under the gold standard, high levels of inflation are rare and hyperinflation is impossible as the money supply can only grow at the rate that the gold supply increases.

   however, other side of it, the value will decrease if the supply is more than the demand. especially during the recession.
